Neely joined the Blackman & Sloop team in 1983. As a principal in the firm, he specializes in providing clients with income tax planning, compliance, and advisory services. Neely works with a wide variety of industries, including construction/real estate development, professional services, and development state companies.
With more than three decades of experience, Neely has the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the unique needs of each of his clients. In particular, he has assisted closely held and family owned businesses with advisory services, including start-up activities and exit strategies (merger/acquisitions and family ownership transitions).
Neely describes himself as a trusted financial partner and advisor. His colleagues agree that he is committed to finding proactive solutions for his clients. Neely attributes the majority of his career success to his drive to find the best solutions possible for his clients and his strong desire to help people meet their financial goals. He also credits Stephen Covey’s book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, for providing him with the tools to grow his success.
Raised in Salisbury, North Carolina, Neely currently resides in Chapel Hill. He enjoys spending time with his family, including his four grown children. He is an avid golfer and boasts three hole-in-ones in the 48 years he has been playing the sport. When Neely is not going for the fourth hole-in-one, he enjoys spending time outdoors, either boating or participating in other sports-related activities.
