Saturday October 29 – NCACPA Making Cents: A Financial Literacy Program

NC State McKimmon Center, Raleigh – 9:30 Am – 2:30 Pm

The North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants is hosting the 3rd Annual Making Cents; A Financial Literacy Program for All Ages. This event reinforces and promotes the integration of financial literacy into student curriculum. This free event features sessions specifically designed for students, parents, and teachers.

Thursday October 27-30 – The Landfall Tradition 10th Annual Collegiate Golf Tournament

Country Club of Landfall – 12:30PM

Carla Daniel will be playing in The Landfall Tradition’s 10th Annual Collegiate Golf Tournament.

The Landfall Tradition will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2011.  Started in 2002 to provide scholarship support for the UNCW men’s and women’s golf programs, the tournament has become one of the premier women’s events of the fall golf season.

The very best teams cherish an invitation to come and experience wonderful southern hospitality and the chance to compete against an exceptionally strong field. This year’s 18-team field showcases 3 of the current top 10, 8 of the top 20, and 16 of the top 40. Included are perennial powerhouses Purdue, Duke, and Virginia plus local favorites North Carolina, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, South Carolina, and host UNCW.  Auburn, Florida State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tulane, and first timers Iowa State, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Mississippi make up the rest of the competitors.

Including this year, 62 different universities and over 1100 players from 31 states will have competed in one or more of the 10 Landfall Traditions.

Sunday October 16 – Eyes Ears Nose And Paws Fun At Hogan Farm

Hogan’s Magnolia View Farm, Chapel Hill, NC – 2PM – 5PM

Eyes Ears Nose and Paws trains and places assistance dogs with individuals with disabilities. Their Service Dogs assist people with mobility impairments.

Help celebrate an afternoon of fun, music, and food. All proceeds to benefit EENP and their service dogs.

Carla Daniel will be playing in this years Mia Hamm Foundation Golf Classic.

The Foundation is focused on providing support for two important causes: raising funds and awareness for families needing marrow or cord blood transplants and continuing the growth in opportunities for young women in sports.

Wednesday October 12-13 – BCBSNC Foundation Healthy Community Institute for Nonprofit Excellence (HCI)

Embassy Suites, Concord, NC – 8AM – 5PM

The purpose of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation Healthy Community Institute for Nonprofit Excellence (HCI) is to provide training to strengthen the organizational capacity of the nonprofit organizations in North Carolina. HCI is a special two-day intensive course that engages three- to four-person teams from nonprofit organizations in a comprehensive board and staff training curriculum.

Les Johns of Blackman & Sloop will be a guest speaker, presenter and consultant at this years event.

Carla Daniel will be playing in this years Kids ‘N Community Foundation Charity Golf Classic.

As “The Heart of the Carolina Hurricanes,” the Kids ‘N Community Foundation strives to meet the health, educational, and underserved population needs of our community by offering programming and financial assistance to local area youth-oriented organizations.

This years Golf Classic will take place at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.

Sunday September 25 – American Heart Association Heart Walk

RBC Center, Raleigh – 1PM

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women over age 25, but many women don’t make their own health a priority. The American Heart Association exists to educate individuals of all walks of life in cardiovascular disease prevention. This years goal is to raise 1.2 million dollars for heart research.

Blackman & Sloop professionals will be participating in this years Heart Walk, to be held on Sunday, September 25th at the RBC Center in Raleigh.

Monday September 26 – 16th Annual Subway Pro-Am Scramble

Chapel Hill Country Club – 11:30 AM

Since 1996, the Subway family throughout our state has been awarding “Subway Scholarships” to sandwich artists in North Carolina through the Peter S. Slomianyj Scholarship Fund. The fund helps pay the rising cost of books and tuition for Subway employees seeking a higher education. The success of the scholarship fund is providing a bright future for Subway employees and their children.
